Overview
Scrambles are not simple hiking. There are dangerous spots, you won't have a rope, harness or belayer.
See Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies There is a new edition out (Edition 3) also by Alan Kane.
See https://www.peakbagger.com/climber/climber.aspx?cid=6535 for the hikes/scrambles I've done in the last 30 years.
- Lake O'Hara: 3.5 hours round trip, 2024/June 24
- Guide-led
- need bus to transport to trail head
- Yamnuska: 2 hours round trip, 2024/June 26, Google Maps has the parking location
- an hour up to the base of the cliff; 20m across the base; 15m down the scree
- recommend not go to the base cliff; climbers knock rocks off, no way to dodge them, just luck
- scree is getting bare; if you hit a bare patch, you will fall and slide; recommend not to use anymore
